The full Accuvanta app, from anywhere

With Remote Web, you open your company's own Accuvanta address in Chrome or Edge, at home, at a client or on holiday, and work exactly as you do in the office. Nothing to install. Your books stay on the office computer, and every sign-in needs your password and a code from your phone.

Getting it switched on

Done once, at the office, by the Accuvanta administrator.

  1. Ask us for your web address

    Accuvanta support (or your Accuvanta partner) sets up your company's own Remote Web address, for example yourcompany-web.accuvanta.co.za. It connects securely to your main computer; nothing on your network is opened to the internet.

    Remote Web users depend on your licence: the trial includes 2, Professional includes all your users, and Lite or Standard can add them.

  2. Switch Remote Web on

    In Accuvanta, open Settings → Mobile and remote → Remote Web and click Switch Remote Web on. The status shows On · reachable when it's working.

  3. Choose who may use it

    In Settings → Users, tick Remote for each person who may work from outside the office.

  4. Keep the main computer on

    Remote Web runs on your main computer, so it must be on and connected to the internet. Set Windows Power & battery → Screen and sleep so it never sleeps while plugged in. A small UPS on the computer and router keeps you working through short power cuts.

For each person

Once, at the office, then from anywhere.

  1. Set up two-step sign-in

    At the office, open Settings → Two-step sign-in and scan the QR code with an authenticator app on your phone (Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator or similar). Save the recovery codes somewhere safe.

    Remote Web refuses anyone without two-step sign-in, so do this before you leave the office.

  2. Open your web address

    On any computer, open your company's Remote Web address in Chrome or Edge. Add it to your bookmarks.

  3. Sign in

    Choose the company, type your username and password, then the 6-digit code from your phone. You're in the full app, with your own permissions, just like at the office.

Good to know

Is it secure?

Every sign-in needs a password and a code from your phone. Five wrong tries lock the account for 15 minutes, and 30 minutes without activity signs you out. The administrator sees every remote sign-in (who, when, from where) and can sign anyone out at once.

Lost a laptop or phone?

Tell your administrator straight away. In Settings → Users they choose Sign out remote and Reset two-step for you, then you set up two-step sign-in again on your new phone.

Someone leaves the company?

Untick Remote for them, or deactivate their user, in Settings → Users. Remote Web blocks them immediately.

Is anything office-only?

Yes, on purpose: backups, imports, diagnostics and licence activation can only be done at the office. Everything else, from invoicing to banking and reports, works remotely.

Will it feel as fast as the office?

Usually close. Speed depends mostly on the office internet's upload speed; typical fibre connections are fine. Very large reports may take a moment longer.

Can't connect?

Check that the main computer at the office is on and online. The administrator can see the status on the Remote Web page in Accuvanta (it should say On · reachable).
